Bar-B-Cutie Sales Frenzy cited in Nashville Business Journal
Published by Sean June 19th, 2006 in Who's Selling? Who's Buying?Industry veteran Greg George was brought in last year to jumpstart franchise sales for 6-unit Nashville franchisor Bar-B-Cutie. Jumpstart it he has… in a big way. But will the expansion course be too fast & too furious?
In this story in the Nashville Business Journal, George states that Bar-B-Cutie’s goal this year is to sell 25 franchises, to reach 100 stores in the following 12 months and 500 in the next five years.
Bar-B-Cutie’s growth is in motion. A Bar-B-Cutie store opened in Georgia this past March, and an opening in Memphis is upcoming. Two franchise units have been sold for Nashville, as well as single units for Dallas & Hays, KS. The company is also looking at opening a store in Chattanooga.
Bar-B-Cutie master franchisee Terry Quinn (Wilmington Food Systems LLC) plans to add 40 to 50 stores to the Bar-B-Cutie system, and is excited about developing the eastern North Carolina markets.
George is actively pursuing a Chinese multi-unit franchise deal on behalf of Bar-B-Cutie and, within the next month, expects to sign an agreement that will result in between 50 and 100 store openings in China over the next 10 years.
Founded in 1950, Bar-B-Cutie opened its franchise division in 2003. To help guide that growth, George has hired Kellye Pope as director of franchise relations as well as a director of franchise operations.
